Stacey's HR Retail Story At a Glance

First Year Attended: 2019

How He’s Participated: Attendee

Conference Highlights: I am now part of a unique community of HR managers that met through this conference. We’re each other’s sounding board for new ideas and solutions to current challenges

The conference was recommended by a colleague…

She had attended the conference last year and recommended that I attend this year. I was focused on going to a conference that would not only help me with my company’s goals but also help in kickstarting some personal initiatives. What jumped out at me were the topics – they matched our strategic initiatives and tackled the landscape of challenges we face as an industry.

The best feature at the conference were the roundtables…

We were broken up by the size of our business so the discussions were very relevant. There were some great ideas on adding growth opportunity programs and how to move forward on recruitment strategies. I was able to bounce off some ideas I had and learned about what others in the industry were doing to keep up with their own unique challenges. Beyond that, there were some great ideas that I took away from the presentation by Starbucks on inclusion.

The highlight of the event for me was…

The friends that I made! One of my main objectives in attending this conference was personal development. I met a whole bunch of likeminded professionals who were open about the challenges they faced and eager to discuss ideas and learn from others.

We were determined to keep the conversation alive beyond the conference and created our very own group on LinkedIn. We use the group to compare results, discuss challenges and formulate strategies. It’s been great!

I look forward to attending HR Retail 2020…if only to add to my growing community of peers!
