Courtney Capeling

VP, HR Best Buy

Courtney Capeling is the Vice President, Human Resources — U.S. Retail for Best Buy Co. Inc., the leading provider of consumer technology products and services with approximately 125,000 employees in North America and nearly $43 billion in annual revenue.  In this role, Courtney is responsible for HR strategy and execution in support of the retail business. 

Courtney leads the HR Team for U.S. Retail, inclusive of Retail Sales, Operations and HR Operations.  Courtney’s primary customers include the President – U.S. Retail, Senior Vice President – Retail Operations and the (4) Territory Senior Vice Presidents along with her peers and partners across the U.S. Field Leadership team and Human Resources.

Courtney joined Best Buy in 2003 and has held a variety of roles across the organization.  She was a part of the leadership team that pioneered the Customer Centricity work and she also played a key role in shaping the business strategy previously known as the Community Stores model.  Courtney has been instrumental in shaping Best Buy’s Diversity & Inclusion strategy. 

Prior to joining Best Buy, Courtney worked as a marketing research executive at Millward Brown International, a consumer insights firm that specializes in driving brand value and marketing efficiency for Fortune 500 companies.  She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and is certified as a senior HR professional by the Society for Human Resource Management.  Courtney resides in Nashville with her husband Jeff and their three very active kiddos Gavin (13), Ava (9) and Landon (7).
